This is a rare GEM GRADE Moldavite, a genuine, natural, untreated outer space gemstone! Moldavite, which was discovered near Moldau in Bohemia (near Czechoslovakia), is a type of Tektite, a meteoritic glass from outer space (chemically identical to quartz in composition), formed from the heat produced from the impact of the meteorite slamming into the earth. The vast majority of Moldavite gemstones are dark, and have some visible striations, bubbles and/or tiny dark spots in them, which, if well cut, may be visible only through a loupe, otherwise appearing eye clean. This stone is powerfully clean, and wonderful for bodywork.
The stated Moldavite carat weight of 4.30 carats is minimum weight; some of the gemstones may weigh considerably more than the stated 4.30 carats, but none will weigh less. Most of these 14x10mm Moldavite stones we have weigh in at 5.75 carats, several at 5.50 carats and at 5.45 carats and above - none will weigh less than 4.30 carats minimum.
