SquareTrade © AP6.0 AAAA Old Mine Color genuine Tanzanite set off by contrasting TOP GEM grade G-H, VS, quality .82 carats of White Diamonds! Gorgeous heirloom quality ring set in solid heavy 14K White Gold. A beautiful ultra-modern very feminine designer ring with the rare round round-cut Tanzanite, held firmly in a stunning six-prong setting. Round cuts are uncommon in most of the expensive gemstones due to so much rough being wasted in the cutting, but brings amazing extra sparkle to Tanzanites. The round cuts refract and dazzle so much more brightly from their myriad of extra facets than the more common oval and trillion cuts do in Tanzanites. This central genuine earth-mined Tanzanite (.43 carats) is flanked by 5 good sized, exceptionally clean, dazzling baguette-cut natural White Diamonds along the sides of the contemporary recursive scroll-style shank, and 6 Diamonds more sparkle along each shoulder, for a total of 22 channel-set very bright, glitzy baguette-cut channel-set genuine White Diamonds (.82 carats). The most costly Diamond to cut and set is channel safe tapered baguette, but it's the cleanest and safest - no prongs to catch on anything. These Diamonds are near colorless F-G color, very clean VS clarity (total diamond weight approx .82 carats). You can't hide and flaws in a sizeable baguette-cut Diamond, and these are pristine!
This exceptionally fine Quad A Tanzanite gemstone color is a gorgeous, rich deep "Old Mine" BLUEBERRY BLUE color: rich dark-toned BLUE (80 to 85%) hue, with a moderate (15 to 20 %) VIOLET secondary hue, with very good TERTIARY RED flashes, even, strong to intense saturation, and displaying the strong pleochroism desirable in a Tanzanite, but rarely seen in a gemstone of this size. Pleochroism is when a stone such as a Tanzanite, looks blue or purple, often with some tertiary pink or red flashes, depending on the light source and how the light strikes the gemstone. Notice in photos (all taken in natural daylight) how the gemstone color display excellent pleochroism: the daytime BLUEBERRY BLUE color shifts slightly in different light situations. At night, under a light bulb, this lovely gemstone appears slightly darker and the VIOLET tones come out. The excellent pleochroism is very dramatic in this lovely little jewel. As always, these rings are so much more gorgeous in real life; this is an heirloom quality ring you can proudly pass down through the generations of your family. This richly saturated DARK ("Old Mine") BLUE/VIOLET color is very uncommon in a stone of this smaller size, usually only seen in much larger Tanzanites. Carat for carat, this small but world-class gemstone is one of the finest and most valuable Tanzanites we have in our store, in terms of color desirability and intense pleochroism. The genuine earth-mined natural Diamond baguettes are stunningly clear and glitzy, contrasting beautifully against the dark Tanzanite.
Very substantial, weighty, well designed strong designer band is 4.84 grams of solid 14K White Gold, highly polished inside and out, holding the Tanzanite and Diamonds very nicely aloft for excellent color penetration and sparkle. With gold prices rising to a record high price of $1,417 per troy ounce in late November 2010 (Diamond prices are also increasing), this weighty solid 14K White Gold gold ring mount with these TOP GEM GRADE Diamonds could not be made today for this price, even without the gorgeous, very dark .43 carat Tanzanite round. Round cuts in Tanzanite are rare; particularly hard to find, and are always priced higher. An outstanding ring in every way, with a perfectly colored, well-cut, exceptionally valuable rare Tanzanite gemstone in a unique and very beautiful contemporary setting.
Tanzanite, first discovered in 1962, is a one-source gemstone found only in northern Tanzania, east Africa, and is a variety of the zoisite family of minerals. Said to be named for the color of the night sky in Tanzania, the outlook for Tanzanite's future long term availability is poor due to that country's volatile political and economic conditions. This makes the gemstone more desirable, more valuable, and more likely to increase in price, as more people buy (and hold) Tanzanites for investment. Wholesale prices for Tanzanite have increased again, and this Old Mine dark color in this little beauty is not coming out of the ground any longer. Currently a size 6. Shipped in an attractive presentation case.
Tanzanite is now one of the December birthstones (along with Blue Topaz, Blue Zircon and Turquoise).
