Beautifully-faceted, very clean 2.04 carat oval-cut Tsavorite (11mm x 7.5mm) held in a beautiful sturdy 4-prong setting, flanked on each side by a large, clean channel set tapered bright genuine Diamond baguette (total diamond weight .15 carats). The Chromium found in Tsavorites which produces the desirable green color is also a growth inhibitor, thus it is rare to find Tsavorite Garnets over 2 carats. 85% of all Tsavorites mined are under one carat in size. At 2.05 carats this VS Tsavorite Garnet gemstone is a VERY large, collectors size gemstone with ideal color and clarity!As precious as emeralds but generally much cleaner, Tsavorite Garnets are members of the grossularite Garnet family and are a one-source gemstone, found only in Kenya's Tsavo National Park in Africa. Supplies of fine quality Tsavorites are very limited. Because of its delightfully bright forest green color, it is one of the most sought-after and expensive of the garnets. Most Tsavorites occur in very small sizes, almost always from 0.5 up to only 2.0 carats. Only about 15% of Tsavorites mined annually are over 1 carat in size, because of the growth inhibiting Chromium which gives them their gorgeous green color. Top quality Tsavorite gemstones over 2.5 carats are quite rare and costly for these larger sizes.
